Launch International Refugee Handbook
Technical Writing - Bellarmine University

Spring 2016

This piece was completed in the second half of the semester for Technical Writing.  The class collaborated to create a basic living handbook as well as a work order document for refugees coming to America.  Launch International, the organization housing the refugees, came to our class with their existing documents requesting that we create a more user-friendly and culturally aware versions.  We were required to translate the completed product into French, Arabic, and Spanish.  The class worked together to create more gender and culture neutral characters and scenes to use as visual guides.  We also worked together to edit the written portion, making it easy to translate into the three languages they requested.  I specifically created a styleguide for the documents as well as worked to rewrite the content.  Below are screen shots of the original documents along with the revised versions we created.  To the right is a link to each full revised document and the style guide I created.
